Welcome to the post-Vic Era
He was the father figure who moved into the neighborhood when the Jaguars arrived. Along with a suitcase and a wife he brought a wealth of NFL knowledge, history and wisdom from years spent covering the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Since 1995 he worked not only to cover the team but to create the team. He will forever be tied to the birth of the franchise and he has earned a passionate base along with passionate enemies.
I will personally remember meeting him back in the late 1990’s. He was cordial and seemed generally pleased to be taking time out of his life to help build the base through a Jaguars.com message board event.
So who will replace Mr. Ketchman? Not specifically in name but rather in personality. Retired is the man with the asterisk. The cattle prod that was “Indy piped in noise” sits cold in the corner. The post-Vic era is upon us.
Adding to the uncertainty that is quarterback and coach now is the replacement for the “people person” who told us that this was just a game: enjoy it.
All we can ask for is someone who brings their own perspective but continues to do it in a way that fosters rivalry along with education. You don’t replace a Vic Ketchman.

Well wishes to you Vic. Green Bay history just got a bit richer.
