  • Senior Bowl Thoughts

The Senior Bowl is now in full swing and reports are flying in as to which teams are up to what. Amongst the players the Jaguars will be taking the most interest in, the results have been mixed.

First, the quarterbacks. Washington QB Jake Locker has millions of dollars on the line this week. If he performs well, he potentially gets back in the top 10 and if not, he could be there when the Jags are picking at 16. So far it seems Locker is doing just well enough, but clearly room for improvement.

Amongst the other QBs out there, Iowa QB Ricky Stanzi has been getting solid reviews. While he’s still in the 3rd/4th round range, he may be the most Pro ready QB in the draft right now.

Two QBs who the Jaguars have reportedly liked at Florida State’s Christian Ponder and TCU’s Andy Dalton. Dalton has been getting a lot of love in draft circles, but his first day of practice won’t help that. All the reports are that he was erratic and off. As for Christian Ponder, he seemed to be exceptionally average through out the day. The Jaguars met with Ponder Sunday and possibly yesterday.

One thing that has been a constant stream on twitter is that the Jaguars have been talking to a lot of linebackers at the Senior Bowl. NC State linebacker Nate Irving has been getting great reviews and is someone I’ve been liking for awhile. He could finally be the piece that fills the void left by Mike Peterson.

What have been your thoughts so far on the Senior Bowl?
